UK JOINT VENTURE PROMOTES INNOVATIVE  INTERMODAL LOAD TRANSFER PRODUCTS FROM SWISS ENGINEERING
SPECIALIST.

UK Rail Terminal Operators, Ports, Local Authorities, Developers and Potential Rail Freight Users now have the opportunity
to benefit from some exciting new intermodal technology from Switzerland with the establishment of a new joint venture
business.

The new business, Intermodal Logistics Ltd, will make available customised quality engineering products from Tuchschmid Engineering AG .

Still a family run business, this 150 year old specialist Swiss Engineering Company has invested significantly in major
research initiatives, to develop products such as the COMPACTTERMINAL and the Advanced Container Transfer System
(ACTS) to suit the different needs of the rail freight markets.

Not only do these products enable users, and rail and terminal operators to operate more efficiently, but also make the
rail freight network more accessible to companies who currently have no rail connections and send all their goods by road.

The COMPACTTERMINAL and ACTS will help facilitate part of the Government's 10 year transport plan, to increase the
volume of freight carried by rail by 80% by 2010, and the movement of goods in and out of cities in a more environmentally
friendly way.

Derek Bliss, Managing Director of Intermodal Logistics Ltd. commented:

"The new semi automated COMPACTTERMINAL brings together tried and tested state of the art technology in a
series of modular designs to enable terminal operators to handle anything from 100 to 1000 containers or swap
bodies per day. Conversely, the simplicity of the Tuchschmid ACTS system, enables an LGV driver to transfer a
load from road to rail in under 3 minutes. The system only requires a road vehicle fitted with a chain or hook
attachment, a rail siding and a 10 metre wide roadway.  Over 2000 of these units are already operating
successfully in Central Europe."

Intermodal Logistics is jointly owned by Tuchschmid Engineering AG and Directors of Compass Logistics, the UK Transport
and Supply Chain Consultancy. The joint venture combines excellence in intermodal design and manufacture with practical
operational and project management experience in supply chains.
