EXCITING
NEW RAIL - ROAD LOAD TRANSFER PRODUCTS FROM INTERMODAL
LOGISTICS LTD.
Intermodal
Logistics Ltd. is pleased to announce the extension of its
product range with two innovative intermodal systems. These are
an ACTS (Advanced Container Transfer System) version of the 75
mph Megafret low platform height rail wagon, and the "NETHS"
horizontal load transfer system for the "Do it
Yourself" Container Terminal.
The
ACTS Megafret is designed to carry 4 x 7.42 m. long ACTS
containers on a Megafret pair fitted with 4 turntables. Each
turntable can carry a net product payload of up to 18 tonnes
within an ACTS container volume of 34 cu. metres at the base W6A
Railtrack loading gauge limit. This offers an increase in
product volume of 45 % per ACTS container and 14% on the present
standard 5.95 m length container. The combined benefits of an
increased payload and faster rail running speeds should prove
very attractive to rail freight operators, logistics service
providers and particularly for customers without their own rail
siding. Any design of road vehicle body can be built as an ACTS
container, whilst road - rail load transfers are effected by the
road vehicle driver using a chain or hook attachment. No other
equipment is required.
The
"NETHS" - Neuweiler Tuchschmid Constructa AG Horizontal System - is
an innovative new product from Switzerland capable of
transferring ISO containers and swap bodies from road to rail in
under 5 minutes! It is designed for use at small terminals or
rail sidings where space is at a premium and throughput volumes
are about 30 containers / swap bodies per day. A high degree of
automation has been achieved bringing the operation to a
"Do it Yourself" level enabling the truck driver to
operate the "NETHS" terminal himself. (For terminals
handling in excess of this daily volume of containers, our
"COMPACTTERMINAL" is more appropriate). "NETHS"
is already operating successfully in Switzerland.
Derrick
Stormink, Technical Director of Intermodal Logistics Ltd. commented:
"These
new products will further reduce the cost of intermodal load
transfers and enhance the cost effectiveness of rail freight
transport within UK supply chains. The ACTS Megafret should be
of particular interest to freight operators seeking to move
average density palletised product by rail and for other
applications especially in the timber, recycling and waste
industries."
Intermodal
Logistics is jointly owned by Tuchschmid Constructa AG AG and
Directors of Compass Logistics, the UK Transport and Supply
Chain Consultancy. The joint venture combines excellence in
intermodal design and manufacture with practical operational
and project management experience in supply chains.
